WE ARE A FAMILY BUSINESS SUPPLYING THE NORTH QUEENSLAND SUGAR AND AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRIES SINCE 1927

The formation of Miriwinni Lime in 1970’S has been by far the biggest contribution by the Wilkins family to the sugar and agricultural industries of Far North Queensland.

Our company, which today is jointly owned by Max, Robert and Rusty Wilkins, who, as a group personally grow over 35,000 tonnes of sugar cane are third generation cane farmers and have over the many years seen and have been involved with many changes to the sugar and agricultural Industries.

With the growing requirement for lime on our own farms, our family pegged a mining lease at Mount Garnet and began mining and crushing lime with our own purpose built crushing plant.

From this beginning the company has expanded to service, first our northern neighbours and then established a North Queensland network servicing the entire northern regions and beyond.

Being family canefarmers ourselves since 1927, our new company, Miriwinni Lime is fully aware of the value of top quality products and are proud to provide this service to farmers.

The Miriwinni Lime operations consist of mining, crushing, retailing and spreading services with crushing plants at Mt Garnet, Mt Molloy, Chillagoe, Townsville and Winton. Miriwinni Lime supplies farmers with lime, dolomite, gypsum, calcium silica, magnesium oxide, magnesium carbonate and blends. Miriwinni Lime products are supplied throughout Qld and NT. Construction of almost all of the machinery and crushing plants has been carried out at the Miriwinni Headquarters by family members and employees. During peak times Miriwinni Lime employs approximately fifty workers in the mining, manufacturing and spreading services.

IT’S ONLY NATURAL THAT THE MIRIWINNI LIME SPREADING SERVICE IS AVAILABLE TO ALL FARMERS

Truck spreaders make up most of the fleet. The trucks are tandem drive with lock up back ends. These trucks cover fallow ground, ratoon cane, pasture, road stabilisation, prawn ponds and some other special applications. In spread mode the spreaders have booms that are 9.5m wide.

Our 4x4 truck spreader has spinners and is used for broadcasting fertiliser in pastures, soft going country, for areas that are not friendly to using booms and various specialised jobs that require a different approach.
