Situated in Far Northern Queensland, Mossman Mill is a historic hub of sugar cane cultivation and milling, dating back to 1906. Known for its pioneering spirit, the mill transitioned to road transport in 1958 and was an early adopter of computer technology for cane payment accounting 🌱
As the northernmost mill of the 24 along Australia’s east coast, Mossman Mill is deeply ingrained in the local community. It employs approximately 150 individuals during the crushing season and around 80 during the off-season, focusing on maintenance and refurbishment. With an additional 20 administrative and management personnel, the mill boasts a diverse and skilled workforce 👷♂️
Mossman Mill’s legacy extends to its contributions to the region’s agriculture, including the first planting of sugarcane on the Atherton Tableland in 1989. Notably, Miriwinni Lime and Gypsum sponsors the annual Mossman Mill Productivity Awards, donating 10 tonnes of Lime for this esteemed event, highlighting our commitment to the industry and the community. This underscores our shared dedication to innovation, community support, and excellence in the sugar industry 🏆
